FAQ

While we strive to make lenticular prints fun and available to everyone, there are some limitations to the medium and particulars of our process that are helpful to understand before placing your order. Here's how it works, and some questions and answers about the process.

How it works

To achieve the illusion of motion on a printed card, the following steps are taken:

The images are sliced, interlaced, and printed on a stiff card. A corrugated lens is then applied to to the top of the card. The angles of the lens reflect each slice of the corresponding image in the same direction. When viewed from opposite angles, the images appear individually. When the print or viewer moves, the transition between the images appears as a fluid sequence.

Pricing & Bulk orders

There are no minimum order restrictions, but there are price breaks for ordering more, see our bulk order pricing sheet.
Once you upload your images, you can adjust the quantity to see immediate discounts by volume.
We are also happy to accommodate discounts for students, educators, and artists interested in showing or selling their work, just reach out to us when you are planning your order!

Cropping

We print our lenticular cards full bleed, which means we overprint larger than the final card size and cut the cards down so that there’s no border around the edges.
We lose about ¼” to ⅛” from the edge of every image, so text or imagery too close to the edge will be cropped.
We recommend adding about a ½” padding for text or important visual elements so that they won’t stray too close to the edge of the card after cropping.
You can upload your images here to see a preview of the cropping and animation effect for each of the print sizes.

Ghosting

Lenticular printing fights with what's called ghosting: the blurring of frames as you print more and more images together.
When using the two image flip, ghosting is less prominent on black backgrounds vs. white ones.
When working with a video or gif, ten totally unique images will be very blurry and indistinct, while ten sequential images will feel like a smooth animation.

Print Sizes

We offer the following sizes with accompanying recommendations for image resolution:

We can also facilitate 10"x10" prints. For these, the resolution of the images used plays a much bigger role. We ask that you use at least a minimum of 200 dpi imagery for 10"x10" prints. Each 10"x10" custom print is $25.
We love to see your work in it's final stage! Feel free to send us photos or videos of your prints to share on our tumblr.

Production and Shipping

Turn around time for printing is typically 4-5 business days from the time the order is processed in our system. For bulk orders and those with back printing, please allow 10 business days.
We offer the following shipping options with USPS and FedEx:
Domestic-
USPS First Class (no tracking): FREE and standard for small orders
USPS Priority 2-3 days: $4.80 and standard for medium size orders
    FedEx 2 Day: $12.30
Canada & Mexico-
    USPS International 7-14 days: $9.90
    FedEx International 2-3 days: $37.40
International-
    USPS International 7-14 days: $11.80
    FedEx International 2-3 days: $37.40
While USPS will always be the cheapest, they do not guarantee their delivery dates/times. So for international orders and those working with a tight deadline, we recommend FedEx as they are faster and do offer guaranteed delivery.

Back Printing

We are able to offer printed text or a single image on the back of our prints on orders of six or more. This is a great option for business cards, save the dates, and gifts!
We are working on adding the option to designate orders with back printing in our order form. For now, if you would like to include back printing on your prints, just reach out to us when you are placing your order and we will coordinate the additional image or text.

Order Cancellation and Resolutions

If you need to cancel your order for any reason, let us know as quickly as possible. We can offer cancellation with full refund if you cancel within 24 hours of placing your order.
If there are any issues with your prints once they arrive, send us a picture or video of the issue and we can accommodate reprints or refunds as necessary.
If your prints do not arrive, let us know, and we will work to rectify the issue and reprint or resend as needed.
